Frequently asked questions
How far back can you trace my family history? Using Scottish Old Parish Records, census returns, civil registration records and a wide range of other historical documents, it is usually possible to trace a family line back to the early 19th century and sometimes considerably further.
Do you research Irish and English ancestry too? Yes. While Scottish ancestry is a particular specialism, GA Genealogy has over twenty years of experience researching family histories across the UK and Ireland, as well as further afield.
What if I have already tried and hit a brick wall? Brick walls are one of the most common frustrations in genealogy. GA Genealogy is experienced in finding alternative avenues, different record sets, variant name spellings, and related family lines to help break through where research has stalled.
Can your research be given as a gift? Absolutely. A family history or family tree chart makes a thoughtful and deeply personal gift for birthdays, anniversaries, milestone occasions, or simply as a record for future generations to treasure.
How do I get started? Simply get in touch via our contact page. GA Genealogy will discuss your goals and recommend the most suitable research approach for your needs and budget.
